Compassion with Fashion
I was honoured to be involved as one of the offical photographers for the first Compassion with Fashion event. It was a fantastic night with fashion parades, dance pieces and musicians. So many creative people in one place...it was amazing to see the community come together for a common cause. Supporting Beyond Blue and raising awareness of anxiety and depression, which is more common than you think, particularly in the creative community.
I wanted to be involved as I have battled depression in the past following the birth of of my first child, but also, as a creative person, every image I produces has a piece of me in it and it can sometimes be hard to hear criticism without taking it personally. Learning to understand that just because someone may not like my art doesn't mean its a personal attack on me is a lesson that is a hard one to learn but is quiet liberating when you "get it"!
Here are some of the images I took on the night. More will be posted by the organisers Erika & Paris Zorzit soon. They should be congratulated on the mammoth effort it must have been to put such a fantastic event together.
The parade started off with gorgeous garments from Rock Stars and Royalty. If you haven't seen their beautiful gowns, you need to!!
We were then treated to some amazingly talented dancers, singer and musician!
Lots of beautiful clothes and models strutted their stuff!
Lots of the contributors had tables showing their products and everyone had a wonderful time!
Finally, the models celebrated such a wonderful event. It was so great to see so many people come together for such a great cause and I hope this is the first of many Compassion with Fashion events.
You can find more information about Beyond Blue and the fabulous work they do within the community here. If you are feeling anxious or depressed, please seek help. You are not alone.
